Job summary

TD Securities in Belfast is seeking a Java Engineer to join the Compliance & Supervision Technology team. You will design, develop, deliver, and support technology solutions enabling regulatory compliance, surveillance, and control oversight across Global Markets.

You will partner with Compliance, Risk, Data, and Business stakeholders to create scalable, secure, and regulator-ready systems. The role requires hands-on Java development, API-first architecture, and collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Java development experience, JDK 17+ preferred.
• REST/GraphQL APIs using Spring Boot or equivalent.
• Strong SQL experience with any RDBMS.
• Working experience with messaging technologies like Kafka or similar.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Agile experience with backlog execution, dependencies, continuous improvement, and outcomes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong team player, with the ability to work across time zones and locations.
• Nice to have: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes deployment.
• Experience with Search Engines like Solr/OpenSearch/ElasticSearch; CI/CD, GitHub actions, Terraform or similar.
• Experience with big data technologies, data analytics, and AI.
• Experience with workflow engines like Camunda, Activiti, JBPM or similar.
• Minimum 5+ years of technology delivery; Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Deliver strategic Compliance and Supervision technology initiatives.
• Partner with multiple teams including product, architecture, infrastructure, security, and vendors.
• Build solutions to meet business objectives while adhering to enterprise architecture & security standards.
• Follow Agile delivery practices and continuous delivery methodologies.
• Build and support API-first, event-driven, microservices, and cloud-native architecture.
• Ensure integration between vendor platforms, proprietary systems, and enterprise data services.
• Contribute to solution designs for scalability, resiliency, maintainability, and security.
• Adhere to reuse and common platform capability practices across workstreams.
• Ensure technology solutions support regulatory obligations, supervisory requirements, and compliance controls.
• Embed auditability, traceability, entitlement controls, evidencing capabilities, and monitoring into system designs.
• Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, remediation programs, and control assessments.
