Job summary

Methods is seeking a Mid-Level Java / .NET Developer with strong Azure experience to contribute to the delivery of digital services for the public sector. You will write clean, well-tested code and collaborate with a supportive team to deliver solutions that serve citizens.

As a Mid-Level Developer, you will take ownership of complete features, work with senior developers to implement technical solutions, and mentor junior colleagues while continuing to grow your own expertise.

Qualifications

• Strong .NET knowledge: Solid experience with C# and .NET Core/6+, including understanding of dependency injection, middleware, and asynchronous programming
• Modern patterns: RESTful API design, microservices concepts, and event-driven architecture
• Testing: Strong focus on writing unit and integration tests to ensure code quality
• Data skills: Experience with SQL Server and database design/optimization
• Proven experience as a Back-End Developer with a strong focus on Java
• Azure Experience: Building and deploying solutions using Azure services such as App Services, Key Vault, Azure SQL, Service Bus
• Development Practices: CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and automated testing approaches
• Public Sector Experience: Exposure to GDS frameworks or similarly regulated environments
• Containerization: Docker or container concepts
• Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate or similar
• Frontend Skills: Experience with Angular or React
• Active SC Clearance: BPSS required, existing SC clearance beneficial

Job description

• We are looking for a Mid-Level Java / .NET Developer with strong Azure experience to contribute to the delivery of digital services for the public sector
• You’ll work as part of a collaborative team building solutions that serve citizens, writing clean, well-tested code and growing your skills in a supportive environment
• As a Mid-Level Developer, you will take ownership of complete features and components, work closely with senior developers to implement technical solutions, and begin to mentor junior colleagues while continuing to develop your own expertise
• Software Development: Design, build, and maintain applications using .NET 8/Core and C#, writing clean, secure, and well-tested code that meets user needs
• Design, develop, and deploy stable, well-tested fixes using Java and related frameworks
• Cloud Implementation: Work with Azure services (Functions, Service Bus, App Services, Azure SQL) to build and deploy cloud-native solutions, following architectural guidance from senior team members
• Security & Compliance: Follow secure coding practices and ensure solutions meet government security requirements and accessibility standards (WCAG)
• Collaboration: Work within an agile team alongside Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and other developers to deliver features that meet policy and user requirements
• Mentorship: Coach and mentor junior developers, participate in code reviews, and share knowledge with the team
• Service Support: Operate the services you build, help fix service issues, and contribute to monitoring and maintenance activities

• Frontend Skills: Some experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like Angular or React
• Active SC Clearance: While BPSS is required, existing SC clearance is beneficial
