Job summary

Oxbow Talent is partnering with a global technology company to hire a Backend Engineer (Java) based in Northern Ireland. You will design, build and maintain Java services within a large-scale, distributed platform used by enterprise customers internationally.

The role focuses on owning features from design to deployment, operating in modern cloud environments, and contributing to platform modernization. It offers ownership and opportunities to shape the local engineering function in NI.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of commercial Java server-side development experience.
• Experience building production software where reliability and availability matter.
• Comfortable taking ownership of features from design through to deployment.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and an interest in learning new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Java-based backend services.
• Work with distributed data stores and other components across a large-scale platform.
• Contribute to automation used to build, deploy and operate services in cloud environments.
• Work closely with engineering and reliability teams to support production systems and troubleshoot live issues.
• Take features from technical design through development, testing and deployment.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and continuous improvement across the engineering team.
