Job summary

NTT DATA in London is seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer to design, develop, and support scalable enterprise applications using Java and Spring technologies. The role involves working across the full development lifecycle within a complex enterprise environment.

You will collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders to deliver robust REST APIs, optimize SQL queries, and contribute to stability, performance, and observability through testing and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Java application development and enterprise software engineering.
• 4+ years of experience with Spring/Spring Boot and backend application development.
• 3+ years of experience developing and integrating REST APIs and relational databases.
• 3+ years of experience across the full SDLC, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and implement new application functionality using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Develop backend services, APIs, and reusable application components.
• Work closely with business stakeholders and Business Analysts to understand functional and non-functional requirements.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
• Design and integrate RESTful APIs with internal and external applications.
• Develop and optimize database queries and application data-access components.
• Investigate complex production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• Implement permanent fixes for recurring production issues.
• Drive improvements in application stability, performance, monitoring, and observability.
• Participate in solution design, technical discussions, and code reviews.
• Develop unit and integration tests and ensure appropriate test coverage.
• Support application releases, deployments, and production readiness activities.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and support teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Follow Agile/Scrum and software engineering best practices.

Day to Day Job Duties

• Design, develop, test, and implement new application functionality using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
