Job summary

Citigroup Inc. is seeking an entry-to-intermediate Securities and Derivatives Analyst to support end-to-end processing of Japanese domestic equity settlements.

You will work with Trading, Sales and Operations to ensure accurate settlement, handle reconciliations, and maintain strong controls. In this role you will develop expertise in securities operations, collaborate across Operations, Markets, Finance, Technology and Risk, and contribute to process improvements while delivering high-quality

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of experience in Operations, Financial Services, Securities Services, or related field.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Willingness to learn new products, processes, and systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills across teams.
• Proficiency in spoken and written Japanese and business-level English.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day settlement processing for Japanese domestic equity transactions, including trade settlement, cash payments, account reconciliations, and general ledger postings.
• Monitor and manage settlement activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of transactions while minimizing operational risk and settlement failures.
• Investigate and resolve settlement breaks, discrepancies, and exceptions by partnering with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
• Complete daily reconciliations and valuation-related processes accurately and within established deadlines.
• Participate in periodic GL substantiation and proofing exercises to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial records.
• Follow established procedures to identify, investigate, and resolve operational issues requiring research and analysis.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, controls, and service quality.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of securities products, operational processes, and interdependencies across functions.
• Build effective working relationships through clear and professional communication with colleagues and market participants.
• Demonstrate sound judgment and risk awareness, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and Citi standards.
• Escalate issues appropriately and maintain transparency in reporting of concerns.
