Location: Wellington Hospital, London
Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

About the role:
As an Intensive Care Matron, you will provide and strengthen clinical leadership within defined areas by acting as a positive role model, who practices evidence-based care to ensure high standards of clinical care. You will ensure safe, effective and high-quality care is consistently delivered with the ICU and take responsibility for the management of all staff within the department.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop the Intensive Care department long and short-term goals aligned with vision/mission and strategies to achieve those goals.
Ensure staffing provision according to national guidelines is continuously met.
Monitor activity and undertake workforce planning on a regular basis.
Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential staff records, adhering to local, regional and national policies on sickness/absence, RIDDOR and other requirements.
Continually assess staffing, equipment and other data to note budget implications
Establish optimum care standards, which meet or exceed agreed standards.
Promote Clinical Governance, Clinical Effectiveness and other quality initiatives.
Undertake comprehensive investigations of all incidents related to the ICU
Skills and experience
Relevant post graduate clinical and management qualification/experience
Extensive experience of working within a Critical Care environment with at least 2 years in a role with shift leadership responsibilities
Previous involvement in supporting nurse education along with recruitment and retention strategies
Ability to recognise clinical and managerial problems taking appropriate action
Ability to manage resources efficiently within budgetary constraints and for a constantly changing workload
Skill in prioritising workload and delegating as appropriate
Good verbal and written communication skills
