Job summary

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an IT Technician to join the Digital Support team. You will deliver first and second-line IT support, fix hardware and software issues, and help maintain critical IT systems to ensure reliable digital services for patient care.

The role involves installing and maintaining IT equipment, managing user accounts, and working with colleagues across the Trust to deliver a customer-focused IT service.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grades A–C) or equivalent
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate
  • NVQ II in Information Technology or equivalent level of experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-line technical support to Trust staff via service desk, remote tools and on-site visits
  • Install, configure and maintain IT equipment and user accounts per Trust standards and service levels
  • Support development and improvement of digital services across the Trust

Main duties of the job

As an IT Technician, you will provide first and second-line technical support to Trust staff, resolving hardware, software and access issues through the service desk, remote support tools and on-site visits.

You will install, configure and maintain IT equipment and user accounts, ensuring systems, devices and records are managed accurately and in line with Trust standards and service levels.

Working closely with colleagues, suppliers and end users, you will help deliver a reliable, customer-focused IT service while supporting the ongoing development and improvement of digital services across the Trust.

Person specification
Qualifications
  • GCSE Maths and English (Grades A – C) or equivalent
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate
  • NVQ II in Information Technology or equivalent level of experience
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years working in an IT infrastructure environment
  • Experience of working in either a Service Desk environment or an IT support
  • Customer Care experience
Skills/ Abilities
  • Ability to understand and interpret user requirements and develop and communicate appropriate responses
  • Ability to influence people and decisions
  • Excellent analytical and judgement skills
  • Ability to work to set timescales
  • Ability to work on own initiative when this is required
  • Presentation, Teaching and Training skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of IT Network configurations
  • Knowledge of Wired & Wireless Networks and Management
  • Knowledge of PC and Server Network configurations
  • Knowledge of Network security and implementation methods
Additional requirments
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude to working e.g. timekeeping, reliability
  • Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area
