Job summary

MASS in Corsham (SN13) is seeking an experienced Technical Authority to provide oversight of infrastructure, network and platform designs, ensuring security, compliance and standards across complex environments. You will lead and mentor engineers, drive governance, and shape long-term technology roadmaps while acting as the senior technical escalation point.

Applicants must be UK nationals eligible for DV clearance.

Qualifications

• Strong background in infrastructure, networks, or platform engineering in complex environments.
• Experience as senior technical escalation point or authority.
• Understanding of change, incident, and problem management processes.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear explanations.
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
• Stakeholder management skills with constructive influence.
• Familiarity with ITIL and governance frameworks.
• Exposure to security-focused or compliant delivery.
• UK National, eligible to work in the UK.
• Eligible for UK Government DV-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert oversight and approval of infrastructure, network, and platform designs.
• Review, challenge, and assure technical decisions for security and standards.
• Act as the senior technical escalation point for high-impact or complex issues.
• Ensure documentation, architecture, and change records meet quality and compliance expectations.
• Offer strategic direction across infrastructure and network domains.
• Lead and mentor network and infrastructure engineers.
• Support prioritisation of workloads, project demands, and operational improvements.
• Identify risks, constraints, and future opportunities to improve resilience, scalability, or efficiency.
• Develop long-term technology roadmaps.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and coordinate remediation for recurring incidents.
• Promote secure-by-design practices and good documentation.
• Represent the organisation in technical governance forums.
• Mentor and develop engineers, improving capability and consistency across the team.

Requirements

• Strong background in infrastructure, networks, or platform engineering in a complex environment.
• Demonstrable experience acting as a senior technical escalation point or authority.
• Deep understanding of change, incident, and problem management processes.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable explanations.
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and influence outcomes.
• Experience operating within technical assurance or governance frameworks.
• Familiarity with ITIL principles.
• Exposure to security-focused environments, secure-by-design, or compliance-driven delivery.
• Must be a sole UK National and eligible to work in the UK.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a UK Government DV-level security clearance.

• Track emerging technologies and recommend their adoption where value is clear.Lead technical elements of change management, ensuring risks are properly assessed and mitigated.
• Provide expert input to CAB and drive continuous improvement in governance processes.
• Capture technical lessons learned and embed them into engineering practice.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and coordinate long‑term remediation for recurring incidents.
• Work with engineering teams to reduce technical debt and increase platform stability.
• Drive proactive risk reduction across infrastructure and networks.
• Act as the technical authority in discussions with customers and partners.
• Review supplier designs, documentation, and proposals to ensure alignment with standards and requirements.
• Represent the organisation with confidence in technical governance forums.
• Mentor and develop engineers, improving capability and consistency across the team.
• Identify skills gaps and shape technical training plans.
• Promote high‑quality engineering practices, secure‑by‑design thinking, and good documentation habits.
