A leading software solutions provider seeks a part-time IT Support Technician in Bristol. This role involves providing technical assistance, managing user accounts, and ensuring seamless IT operations. Job Summary
The part-time IT Support Technician will provide technical assistance and support to end users within our company. This role supports the IT Manager in maintaining hardware, software, and network systems, ensuring seamless daily operations.
The role will require problem-solving as well as configuration of systems and accounts, always following processes and delivering high levels of internal customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
· Work alongside experienced IT Manager whilst learning all aspects of the role.
· Provide technical support to staff via multiple channels, classifying and prioritising issues and requests.
· Follow global IT processes and policies to deliver a consistent and commercially sustainable service.
· Diagnose and resolve technical issues.
· Fulfil hardware and software requests according to an approvals workflow.
· Liaise with our external IT service partner.
· Ensure all IT assets are protected and accounted for.
· Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in Active Directory and other systems.
· Support onboarding/offboarding of employees by setting up and deactivating user accounts and devices.
· Help to create tutorials and FAQs for staff, to avoid repetitive queries to IT.
· Assist with system updates, patches, backups, and antivirus management.
· Contribute to IT projects and upgrades.
Skills & Experience
· Good experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and remote support tools.
· Practical understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
· Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
· Experience with cloud services like Azure, Virtual Data Centres etc
· Administration of IT security including device MFA and antivirus, and infrastructure access controls and protection.
· Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and ticket management to SLA.
· Passion for technology and a proven desire to learn.
· Demonstrate good technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, and systems administration.
· Ability to perform effectively under pressure, and to manage internal and external expectations around resolution timeframes.
· Natural problem-solver, with the ability to simplify and summarise a problem using clear and precise language.
· Self-motivation and able to take responsibility, but knows when to escalate if necessary.
· Understands the business impact of an IT issue.
· Liaise and work closely with the appropriate teams on escalated functional and technical issues.
Location & Reporting Line
The role will be located in the Bristol office and will report to the IT Manager. Flexible hybrid home/office working is available.
Hours
The role will be 20 hours per week, worked over a minimum of 3 days per week. The hours worked are flexible which could be 4 hours per day, 5 days per week, or 6.5 hours on 2 days, and 7 hours on a 3rd day in any week. Both parties will be flexible according to business needs (e.g. holiday coverage for the IT Manager may require 4 hours every day, and some weeks the employee may want to work 3 days, and other weeks, 4 days etc).
In addition, there may be the occasional need for overtime to complete critical tasks out of normal working hours.
