Job summary

MCS Group is recruiting a Technical Services Engineer for a well-established organisation in Mid Ulster. The role covers 2nd/3rd-line support, infrastructure, Microsoft cloud services, networking and cybersecurity. You will help maintain reliable day-to-day IT services while contributing to upgrades and tech-improvement projects.

The position is permanent, full-time, on-site in Magherafelt with a salary of £30,000-£40,000.

Qualifications

• Experience in 2nd/3rd line IT support and infrastructure.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Knowledge of Entra ID, Intune and endpoint management.
• Experience with Windows Server, AD and Hyper-V concepts.
• Networking experience: VPNs, firewalls, switching, Wi-Fi.
• Exposure to Azure cloud and cybersecurity basics.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd/3rd-line support for infrastructure, apps, networks, and devices.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, SharePoint, Teams and Intune.
• Support Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V and endpoints.
• Maintain network infrastructure including VPNs, firewalls and Wi‑Fi.
• Monitor backups, patching, security and system availability.
• Support business applications, upgrades and integrations.
• Contribute to infra, cloud and digital transformation projects.
• Assist with cybersecurity, access control and compliance.

Technical Services Engineer - 2nd/3rd Line

Location: Magherafelt
Salary: £30,000-£40,000
Working pattern: Five days on-site
Contract: Permanent, full-time
MCS Group is delighted to be recruiting a Technical Services Engineer for a well-established and growing organisation in Mid Ulster.
This is a broad, hands-on position covering 2nd/3rd-line support, infrastructure, Microsoft cloud services, networking, business applications and cybersecurity. You will help maintain reliable day-to-day IT services while contributing to infrastructure upgrades and technology-improvement projects.

The role

You will:

• Provide 2nd/3rd-line support across infrastructure, applications, networks and end-user devices.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, SharePoint, Teams and Intune.
• Support Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V and endpoint-management environments.
• Maintain network infrastructure, including switching, VPNs, firewalls and Wi-Fi.
• Monitor system performance, backups, patching, security and availability.
• Support business-critical applications, upgrades and integrations.
• Contribute to infrastructure, cloud and digital-transformation projects.
• Assist with cybersecurity, vulnerability management, access control and compliance.
• Work with technology suppliers and managed-service partners.
• Produce technical documentation and support users adopting new systems.

What you will need

• Previous experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Administrator, Technical Support Engineer or experienced 2nd/3rd-Line Engineer.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Knowledge of Entra ID, Intune and endpoint management.
• Experience supporting Windows Server and virtualised environments.
• Practical networking experience across VPNs, firewalls, switching or Wi-Fi.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.

Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, ITIL, VoIP, API integrations, ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials would be advantageous.
