Job description

Birchwell Associates is excited to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading IT services provider based in Leeds. We are looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer (2nd/3rd Line) to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting a wide range of IT infrastructure and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support to clients and internal teams.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.

  • Manage and maintain Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Office 365.

  • Support network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.

  • Work with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.

  • Assist in IT projects, including migrations, system upgrades, and implementations.

  • Provide proactive monitoring and maintenance to prevent technical issues.

  • Document solutions and processes, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.

Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience in a 2nd/3rd line IT support role.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.

  • Experience supporting Office 365, Exchange, and cloud-based solutions.

  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewalls.

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.

Desirable Skills:
  • Certifications such as Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), Cisco (CCNA), or ITIL.

  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.

  • Knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash).

  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
