Job description

Are you eager to begin your career in IT and looking for a fantastic, supportive employer? Open Network Services are looking for their next IT apprentice to join their ever-growing team. Offering fantastic progression opportunities upon successful completion of the Level 3 Microsoft IT Support apprenticeship, this is not a role that will be round for long.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 IT Support Apprenticeship, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:
  • Liaising with end users and booking couriers.
  • Accurately updating IT systems for incoming and outgoing goods to maintain accurate, up to date stock inventory and hardware asset management.
  • Disposal of IT equipment in accordance with Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013.
  • Following Software Asset Management guidelines and processes.
  • Providing advice, guidance and assistance on all IT devices set up and operation, troubleshooting any issues that arise with both software and hardware.
  • Contacting end users via the available channels and explaining technical information in non-technical terms.
  • Self-auditing all work to ensure it meets applicable technical and operational quality standards.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:
  • £15,000 per annum
  • Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, some flexibility with start and finish times
  • Engaging quarterly team building activities
  • Progression onto the Level 4 Network Engineer programme
Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:
  • Grade 4 in Maths and 5 in English is essential for this role
  • Skills and basic knowledge of Windows O/S
  • Creative and imaginative problem-solving skills
  • High ethical standards and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively with all staff across the company
  • Able to establish positive and productive working relationships
  • Able to work flexibly, including responding to high-level service issues out of core hours
  • Able to travel to various locations within a reasonable timescale to support the needs of the company
  • Demonstrate a firm commitment to and knowledge of the principles of the Data Protection Act 2018/GDPR
  • Applicant must hold a valid UK Driving licence and have the ability to use own vehicle for work purposes (desirable)
