Job description

Avantia Law is leading the way in legal services innovation. Our team of talented lawyers, backed by AI, work with clients to deliver routine legal and compliance work fast and cost-efficiently.

As IT Support & AI Tech Specialist, you’ll be the face of IT within our fast-paced firm. You’ll work closely with legal experts, executive leadership, and high-profile clients to ensure seamless technology operations, top-tier service delivery, and expert support for our in-house AI tool, Ava.

Key Responsibilities

Internal IT Operations

  • Set up, maintain, and provide hands-on support for employee devices (Windows, macOS, and mobile).
  • Manage users, licenses, security settings, and policies in Microsoft 365 (including Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Intune).
  • Own the IT onboarding/offboarding process: device provisioning, account creation, and permission management.
  • Monitor and maintain IT security best practices (MFA, endpoint protection, device patching, etc.) aligned with compliance frameworks (Cyber Essentials, ISO27001, SOC 2).
  • Support and contribute to the firm’s compliance initiatives, including audits and certification processes.
  • Assist in evaluating, implementing, and optimising new IT tools, services, and automations to enhance operational efficiency.

AI Tech Support

  • Act as a trusted technology partner to our executive leadership, legal teams, and Private Equity clients.
  • Provide expert technical support for our AI platform, Ava, assisting both internal users and external clients in onboarding, troubleshooting, and maximising its functionality.
  • Represent the IT function in high-stakes client interactions, offering discreet, professional, and solution-focused service.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on key projects, system rollouts, and operational improvements.

Global Support & Flexibility

  • Provide occasional out-of-hours support for critical incidents or to assist US-based clients and portfolio companies.
  • Support the firm’s growth by contributing to international IT operations as needed.

Essential

  • You have the determination and adaptability to thrive in a high pressure, high tech environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting both Windows and macOS environments.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 administration and security.
  • Knowledge of device management tools (e.g. Intune) and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence and credibility to support executive and client stakeholders.
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (VPNs, firewalls, Wi-Fi systems, remote access).

Desirable

  • Exposure to legal, private equity, or financial services environments.
  • Experience supporting or administering AI-based applications or workflow tools.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2) and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash) or IT automation tools.
  • Knowledge of additional SaaS platforms (Slack, HubSpot, etc.).
