Job summary

Onebright Ltd in York is seeking an experienced IT Operations leader who blends technical excellence with strategic thinking to shape our technology landscape. You’ll lead the IT Operations team, manage complex projects, and drive improvements across our Microsoft cloud estate while delivering measurable service metrics.

You’ll champion automation and AI, own budgets and supplier relationships, and ensure security and compliance in line with ISO 27001, helping the business scale safely in the UK.

Qualifications

• Hands-on ownership of a Microsoft cloud estate, including architecture, complex change, scripting, automation and integration.
• Proven experience leading an IT Operations, Infrastructure or Technical Services function.
• Strong service and project-management practice across incident, problem, change, release, configuration, transition and continual improvement.
• Proven track record of security, risk, resilience and compliance controls aligned to ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus in the context of an IT Operations Microsoft 365 estate.
• Budget, hardware/technology procurement, licensing, supplier negotiation and contract-management experience for an IT Operations-owned estate.
• Collaborative leadership and sound judgement across functional boundaries, with the ability to influence executives, explain trade-offs and lead complex escalations.
• Experience governing automation and AI within an IT Operations scope, including tool selection, validation, information protection, maintainability and measurable benefit.

Responsibilities

• Establish service metrics covering performance, capacity, quality, customer experience and continual improvement.

Are you an experienced IT Operations leader who combines strong technical expertise with strategic thinking?

About Our Opportunity

As a key member of the IT Senior Leadership Team, you'll help shape our technology landscape, translating IT and security strategy into effective operational services that support the wider business.

This is a varied role combining strategic leadership with hands‑on technical delivery. You'll lead and develop the IT Operations team, manage complex projects and technical escalations, and drive improvements across our technology estate whilst establishing meaningful service metrics covering performance, capacity, quality, customer experience and continual improvement.

You will drive automation and integration using technologies such as PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs and AI.

You will also own operational budgets, investment cases, licensing, hardware procurement and supplier relationships within the IT Operations remit.

What we need from you
