Responsibilities

• Lead technical response during major incidents and coordinate service recovery.
• Provide expert 3rd line support for complex operational issues.
• Maintain and improve platform monitoring, automation and job scheduling.
• Support system administration, performance tuning, resilience and disaster recovery.
• Manage complex system changes and releases.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Development, Security and third-party suppliers.
• Drive continual service improvement and promote ITIL best practices.
• Mentor colleagues and develop technical capability across the team.

Senior Operations Engineer

Cardiff (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to £50,000

The Role

As an Operations Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the stability, availability and performance of critical banking and payment systems. You’ll act as a senior technical escalation point, lead major incident response and help shape the future of operational tooling and automation.

• Leading technical response during major incidents and coordinating service recovery.

What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience supporting enterprise operational environments and mission‑critical platforms.

• Unisys mainframe environments (highly desirable).
• OpCon job scheduling or another enterprise scheduling platform.
• SQL Server administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
