Role Overview

As an IT Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and support to IT projects and programmes, working with project managers and technical leads, to deliver IT solutions. Day‑to‑day, you’ll use your SME knowledge to lead the delivery of complex technical tasks, as directed by the Technical lead, to support the delivery of projects. Your responsibilities will include design, implementation, integration, test and evaluation.

This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected. At our Farnborough site exciting work takes place at our state‑of‑the‑art facility, with high‑energy laser technologies, a 5 m pressurised wind tunnel which has a simulation capability unique in the UK, and large research and development projects – a true hub of creativity, research and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Technically lead small projects or parts of larger projects through managing a small technical team to deliver solutions using best practice.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
• Work to time and budget, identifying problems, providing pragmatic solutions and delivering outputs.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with a broad and comprehensive range of concepts and principles within the areas of IT.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of the market relevant to your discipline.
• Broad experience of Windows client/server infrastructure, networking and virtualisation (Hyper‑V).
• Proven interpersonal and communication skills to convey complex information.
• Experience of working on a range of engineering projects.
• A degree in science or engineering, or an equivalent nationally recognised professional qualification.
