Job summary

Lancaster University is seeking an IT Engineer to join a faculty-based team delivering second-line technical support for University IT services. You will provide on-site and remote assistance to staff and students, using ITIL-based processes to manage incidents and service requests, and maintain systems to support teaching and administration.

You'll work with AV services to support learning spaces and collaborate with ISS teams on new and existing services, combining IT and problem-solving

Qualifications

• Experience in a team-based IT service environment.
• Knowledge of PC hardware and audio-visual systems is advantageous.

Job description

As an IT Engineer, you will join a faculty-based team providing second-line technical support to users of the University's IT services. In this role, you will offer both on-site and remote technical support to end users. Utilising ITIL-based processes to handle incidents and service requests, you will tackle a wide range of technical challenges, provide advice, and perform preventative maintenance to support the University's teaching, research, and administrative functions. This includes collaborating with our AV services team to support IT and audio-visual equipment in various learning spaces. Additionally, you will work with the broader teams in ISS to help support the delivery of new and existing services.

Experience of working in a team-based IT service environment, as well as knowledge of PC and Audio-Visual systems in use at Higher Education or equivalent establishments will be advantageous. You will combine your IT and problem-solving skills with a strong user-focus to ensure an excellent service to the user community.

Please note that this position is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. Applicants will therefore need to already hold, or be able to demonstrate, the appropriate right to work in the UK for the duration of the role.
