We have an excellent opportunity to join our committed and knowledgeable IT & Audio Visual department as an IT Core Systems Specialist.

Reporting to the IT Core Systems Manager, you will undertake the installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, development, backup, and securing of the college’s server infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited to: data centres, Microsoft Cloud-based services, server infrastructure, storage systems, communication systems, and software.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist with the administration, design, development, and support of the college server infrastructure systems, both on-premise, hosted, and cloud-based.
• Work according to IT security best practices and ensure IT compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with auditors to provide evidence supporting compliance claims. Regularly test and monitor the infrastructure for security concerns.
• Ensure the college infrastructure is documented and changes are managed through an agreed process.
• Resolve third-line support calls, whether on-premise or in the cloud, and provide support, guidance, and mentoring to first and second-line teams.
• Manage the college’s server infrastructure and data centre as part of the IT core systems team.
• Assist in managing college systems under the remit of the IT core systems department, including security devices and services, identity management, and other network services.
• Support college remote access, ensuring user, system, and data security.
• Monitor traffic patterns and resource usage to help the team be proactive in capacity planning.
• Monitor environmental parameters and implement practices to prevent system failures.
