Job summary

TEK Express Ltd in Crawley is seeking an IT configuration technician to join our technical team at our Crawley office. You will prepare new and returned devices with client-specific software images and personalise devices before shipping.

You will also provide telephone support to our mobile workers and help image devices for resale. The role requires good IT basics, attention to detail and a confident, professional phone manner.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths C or above (or equivalent).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and numeric accuracy.
• Ability to follow procedures and work independently.
• Basic understanding of IT and telecoms hardware components, their functions, types and interrelationships.
• Basic Knowledge of Windows + Android settings and configuration.
• Basic IOS knowledge.

Job description

We have an opportunity for someone to join our dynamic team at TEK Express. Continued growth has created an opportunity for an IT configuration technician to join our technical team at our office in Crawley. This role will involve working as part of a team preparing new and returned devices (laptops, tablets and smartphones) which get issued to our clients’ mobile workers. Each prepared device will include an agreed software image and some Clients require personalisation prior to being shipped. The role will also involve telephone support to some of our mobile workforce workers so having a confident and professional phone manner is essential. We also provide an IT recycling service so there will be a requirement to test, grade, clean and image devices for resale.

The role

Reporting to the Technical Centre manager activities will include:

• Prepare laptops, tablets, payment devices and smartphones with client-specific software images.
• Personalise devices as needed before shipping.
• Provide telephone support to mobile workers.
• Test, grade, clean, and image devices for resale.
• Maintain records in asset management and ticketing systems.
• Follow documented procedures and meet SLAs.
• Maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency when working sequentially in ‘production style’ work processes.
• Ensuring all enquiries are dealt with in a customer-focused manner.
• Maintaining a clear understanding of our client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensuring that these are maintained.

Hours: Monday to Friday between the hours of 9.00am to 5.30pm

What we are looking for

To be considered for the position you will have the following skills, knowledge and attributes:

• GCSE English and Maths C or above (or equivalent)
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and numeric accuracy
• Ability to follow procedures and work independently
• Basic understanding of IT and telecoms hardware components, their functions, types and interrelationships.
• Basic Knowledge of Windows + Android settings and configuration.
• Basic IOS knowledge

We are looking for someone who has an interest in IT, but more importantly is willing to learn and is a great team player. They will need to be forward thinking, beyond the given task along with having a flexible approach and not afraid to ask questions. Due to the nature of the role, we need someone who is confident in engaging with people at all levels.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
