Mears continues to evolve its digital and cloud-based platforms to support a growing portfolio of high-profile contracts and modern operational practices. We’ve made solid progress—but we know there’s more to do. We’re investing in our capability to design, implement, and manage IT solutions that not only meet internal needs but also enhance the services we deliver to clients.
About the role:
We’re looking for an IT Business Partner who enjoys making the complex simple. You’ll be the go-to bridge between our IT function and the wider business—translating technical speak into day-to-day business outcomes. Comfortable with both the code and the conversation, you’ll engage with clients and internal stakeholders to shape, deliver, and support a range of IT initiatives—from standard service improvements to strategic change projects.
Key responsibilities:
Act as the link between technical teams and non-technical users, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and solutions are accurately implemented.
Lead the coordination of IT activities across projects, from idea through to delivery.
Serve as account manager for key stakeholders during periods of IT-driven change.
Build, monitor and adapt project plans to meet changing demands.
Ensure alignment between IT projects and wider business strategy.
Capture, define and document system requirements and enhancements.
Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure stakeholder sign-off.
Deliver structured handovers to BAU teams, including clear documentation and process outlines.
This is your opportunity to help shape how Mears delivers IT—both now and in the future. You’ll play a key role in building our IT capability and ensuring tech works seamlessly for teams across the UK.
Key Criteria:
You’ll be a natural communicator who understands IT at its core and knows how to present it in a way that makes sense to those outside the tech team.
Demonstrated experience in end-to-end project delivery
Comfortable discussing technical subjects with developers, but equally skilled at breaking it down for business users
Strong communicator with confidence in managing both internal and external relationships
Familiarity with SQL and process mapping tools such as Visio
Logical, analytical, and detail-oriented
Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
This role suits either a seasoned IT Business Partner or an experienced IT professional with hands-on operational knowledge looking to transition into a more business-facing role.
With contracts and operations across the UK, some travel will be required to attend in-person meetings. However, this role is primarily remote, and we’re flexible on location.
