National Highways is seeking an IT Audit Manager to join the Corporate Risk and Assurance division. You will lead a responsive audit function, evaluating risk management, internal control and governance across IT.

The role covers planning, supervising, and delivering audits, with advisory support to the Head of IT Audit. Based in any UK office with some travel to regional offices, you will develop IT audit plans, manage resources and present findings to senior stakeholders including Executive

Qualifications

  • CISA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Proven experience leading IT audit teams and line management.
  • Experience developing audit strategies and annual plans.
  • Strong report writing and stakeholder communication at board level.
  • IT and OT audit experience with knowledge of cyber security and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and manage the audit team; plan and deliver the audit programme.
  • Review audit documentation from TOR to report; manage actions; ensure quality standards.
  • Attend senior meetings; present key findings professionally; act as trusted advisor.
  • Build relationships with senior clients and stakeholders on trust.
  • Contribute to IT audit plan; set priorities; ensure resources for timely delivery.

About the job.

National Highways have an excellent opportunity for an IT Audit Manager to join the Corporate Risk and Assurance division within our Business Services Directorate (BSD). As an IT Audit Manager, you will provide a responsive and helpful service to audit clients through a sound and professional evaluation of risk management, internal control and governance arrangements. This service will be delivered through an effective programme of assignments, supporting the Head of IT Audit and responsible for the planning, supervision and delivery of IT internal audits, advisory and other assurance engagements. The IT Audit Manager will also support the Head of IT Audit in the development and implementation of robust systems and processes that lead to high-quality planning, decision making, control and governance across National Highways.

Please note this role can be based from any of our UK offices however; some limited travel to regional offices to attend team meetings will be required.

Contribute to the development of the IT audit plan including determining priorities and ensuring enough resources are available to deliver it in a timely and high-quality manner.

  1. Responsible for the guidance and day-to-day management of an effective team of auditors on assignment, planning and delivery of the audit programme.
  2. Responsible for the review of all audit documentation from terms of reference through to the audit report and action management. Delivery will meet appropriate quality and professional standards.
  3. Attend and present at senior meetings, as required, presenting key audit findings in a professional manner and being a trusted business advisor.
  4. Develop and maintain effective relationships with senior clients and stakeholders built on professional trust.
  5. Contribute to the development of the IT audit plan including determining priorities and ensuring enough resources are available to deliver it in a timely and high-quality manner.
About you.
  1. CISA[LW1] or equivalent professional qualification required.
  2. Significant experience leading and developing IT audit teams, including line management. Proven ability to set clear objectives, priorities and expectations to drive high performance and professional development.
  3. Proven experience developing audit strategies and annual audit plans, and leading complex, risk-based audit engagements to provide independent assurance over key business and technology risks.
  4. Strong report-writing and communication skills, with experience producing clear, concise and impactful audit reports for Executive and Board-level stakeholders[LW2] .
  5. Significant IT and Operational Technology (OT) audit experience, with knowledge of technology risk, controls, cyber security, infrastructure, cloud services and enterprise applications. Proven understanding and application of recognised industry frameworks, including COBIT, ITIL and NIST CSF.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
