Job summary

DWP Digital is seeking an IT Asset Manager to join our Workplace Computing team. You will develop and enforce asset management processes, ensuring accurate tracking of approximately 125,000 IT assets and governance across lifecycle.

This role involves collaborating with stakeholders, reporting data insights, and driving cost efficiency, with hybrid working in the UK and a base pay of £44,447 plus 28.97% employer pension contributions.

Qualifications

  • Experience developing and applying processes to capture, track, correct and report IT hardware assets and data.
  • Ability to interpret complex IT hardware asset information and present it simply to peers and management.
  • Experience agreeing asset management standards, plans, and procedures with stakeholders.
  • Proven experience managing IT hardware assets and communicating changes effectively.
  • Experience evaluating asset management systems and leading improvements.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
  • Experience of developing and applying processes, techniques and tools to capture, track, correct and report on IT Hardware Assets and associated data to ensure for accuracy and completeness.
  • Demonstrative ability to interpret complex IT Hardware Asset information and present in a simplified format to peers and management.
  • Experience of agreeing the scope of IT Hardware Asset Management standards, plans, processes and procedures with stakeholders to optimise the capture and use of asset management data.
  • Proven experience of managing IT Hardware Assets and ensuring that changes are properly impacted and communicated.
  • Experience of evaluating existing IT Hardware Asset management systems and leading the continuous improvement of IT Asset Management procedures.

This role is all about providing colleagues with the tools and tech they need to deliver vital services to millions of citizens.

The Workplace Computing team manages approximately 125,000 IT assets, including laptops, peripherals, and printers, supporting colleagues across DWP and wider government.

As part of the IT Asset Management (ITAM) team, you will play a key role in ensuring these assets are accurately tracked, governed, and managed throughout their lifecycle.

You’ll develop and improve asset management processes, policies, and controls, using data and insight to support decision‑making, drive compliance, and enhance service delivery.

Working with a broad range of stakeholders across Digital, operational teams, and suppliers, you will help ensure DWP's technology estate remains well‑managed, cost‑effective, and fit for purpose.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool or Manchester, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working:We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of £44,447.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
