Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a part-time Muslim Chaplain to lead the Friday Prayer and a study group, and to provide faith and pastoral care to prisoners and staff.

The role requires recognised Islamic Studies qualification (Alimiyyah/graduate level) or equivalent knowledge, Tajweed proficiency, and an understanding of Islam’s diverse schools of thought; endorsement by the faith community is also needed.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised qualification in Islamic Studies at 'Alimiyyah / graduate level.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Islam at an equivalent level.
• Proficient in Tajweed (Arabic pronunciation).
• Knowledge of different schools of thought within Islam and willingness to facilitate practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Friday Prayer and a study group.
• Provide faith and pastoral care to prisoners and staff.
• Be part of a multi-faith chaplaincy team and collaborate with others.
