Job summary

King’s College London seeks a part-time Muslim Chaplain and Advisor on Islamophobia Hate to provide pastoral care and expert guidance on addressing Islamophobia. The role oversees Muslim prayer spaces, advises senior leadership, and collaborates with EDI and Student Services to deliver hate awareness training.

The post is 0.8 FTE (28 hours/week) with London weighting, and interviews are scheduled for early November 2026. An indefinite contract is offered.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate training or recognised qualifications in Islamic Studies or related field.
• Professional accreditation in counselling, chaplaincy, or mental health first aid.
• Formal experience in conflict resolution, restorative justice, or mediation in multi-faith or polarised environments.
• Sophisticated understanding of regulatory and social challenges facing UK Higher Education.
• Experience developing community-led initiatives promoting social cohesion or inter-communal dialogue.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care and support to students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Advise on identifying and addressing Islamophobia while balancing academic freedom and expression.
• Oversee Islamic religious life on campus and management of Muslim Prayer Rooms across campuses.
• Source, develop and oversee Islamophobia hate awareness training with EDI and Student Support.
• Brief senior leadership on incidents or systemic concerns related to Islamophobia.
