Job Title: | Ironmongery Warehouse Manager
Responsible to: | Ironmongery Director
Job Purpose Statement
To oversee the day-to-day operations of our ironmongery warehouse, including inventory management, goods in/out, packing operations, and transport. Management of a small onsite metal fabrication workshop.
Key Recruitment Criteria
- Self-motivated and highly organised individual.
- Working to tight deadlines and strict criteria.
- Proven experience in a warehouse management or supervisory role, preferably within the ironmongery, building supplies, or construction hardware industry.
- Strong understanding of warehouse procedures and health & safety legislation.
- Knowledge of ironmongery products and their applications (preferred but not essential).
- Proficiency with warehouse management software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
- C/B Forklift licence (preferred but not essential).
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the ironmongery warehouse, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows.
- Manage stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and ensure accurate record-keeping using in-house MRP system (RTIS).
- Ensure timely and accurate picking, packing, and dispatch of customer orders.
- Be the lead operative for Door Packing operation, controlling flow of orders in line with the transport plan.
- Implement and monitor health and safety procedures in line with UK regulations and best practices.
- Lead, train, and motivate a team of warehouse staff to meet performance targets and KPIs.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal departments (e.g. Project Management, Procurement) to coordinate deliveries and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure incoming goods are inspected, stored appropriately, and processed correctly.
- Control movement of products from off-site bulk storage to on-site shelf locations.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant warehouse environment.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Any other reasonable duties in support of the wider DATIM business.
