Job summary

Morgan Hunt is seeking an Employment Specialist (IPS) to join a community-based drug and alcohol treatment service in Hull on an initial 3-month contract. The role is 37.5 hours per week and paid via umbrella at £16-£22 per hour.

You will deliver person-centred employment support, working with clinical teams, local employers and external organisations to help clients overcome barriers and secure sustainable paid work aligned with their skills and aspirations.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with employment, training or vocational goals.
• Understanding of challenges faced by people experiencing substance misuse, mental health difficulties or other barriers to employment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage positively with clients, employers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience providing practical employment support, including CV development, job applications and interview preparation.
• Ability to build relationships with employers and identify suitable job opportunities.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate case records.
• A person-centred, non-judgemental approach, with a genuine commitment to helping individuals achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of individuals accessing drug and alcohol treatment who are motivated to enter or return to employment.
• Provide tailored employment support, including CV writing, job searching, completing applications and interview preparation.
• Work with clients to identify their skills, interests, aspirations and employment goals, developing individual vocational profiles and action plans.
• Build strong relationships with local employers to identify suitable vacancies and explore opportunities beyond advertised roles.
• Support clients to overcome barriers to employment, including workplace challenges, disclosure considerations and benefit-related concerns.
• Work collaboratively with clinical teams to encourage referrals and promote employment as a positive part of the recovery journey.
• Provide ongoing in-work support to help individuals sustain employment, including regular check-ins with clients and employers.
• Develop partnerships with local employers, training providers and other external agencies to expand employment opportunities.
• Maintain accurate case records, monitor client progress and contribute to service reporting and evaluation.
• Promote equality, challenge discrimination and help create inclusive employment opportunities for people in recovery.
