Job summary

Rethink Mental Illness is seeking an IPS Employment Specialist to manage a caseload of clients with mental health needs and support them to secure sustainable paid employment using the IPS approach. Training will be provided, and you will work within a community mental health team to foster recovery through meaningful work.

You will build relationships with local employers, conduct vocational profiling, assist with CVs and applications, and provide ongoing in-work support to ensure successful

Qualifications

• A basic understanding of IPS (Individual Placement Support) gained through experience or self-conducted research.
• Experience in recruitment or employment along with advice and guidance on employment needs.
• Ability to engage with employers and build close, trusting, and productive relationships with people.
• Good understanding of the local area and its employers.
• Strong IT skills with the competency to use a range of complex systems and software.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of clients with mental health support needs who are motivated to start or return to work.
• Deliver the IPS approach; training will be provided.
• Meet and support clients to understand skills, aspirations, and goals through Vocational Profiles and Action Plans.
• Assess client needs related to work and provide support and guidance (benefits/welfare, disclosure, etc.).
• Attend weekly clinical team meetings as an embedded IPS practitioner.
• Source job opportunities through tailored job search and employer engagement.
• Provide education and support to employers to negotiate adjustments and return-to-work strategies.
• Build relationships with clinical teams to generate referrals and promote employment as a recovery intervention.
• Continue in-work support and monitoring after employment is secured to sustain jobs.
