Job summary

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust seeks an IPC Specialist Adviser to lead infection prevention and control across sites. The role involves outbreak response, policy development, training delivery, and active participation in audits and quality improvement projects.

You will liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff, provide tailored education, and travel between sites to support IPC activities. NMC registration and post-registration experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with NMC registration
• Evidence of further post-registration experience
• Degree or commenced on pathway

Responsibilities

• Act as a specialist adviser to all staff in infection prevention and control
• Liaise with staff in outbreak situations and agree action
• Investigate outbreaks focusing on source, spread and control measures
• Contribute to IPCT clinical audit programme to evaluate procedures and reduce risk
• Deliver IPC training to a wide range of staff
• Provide information and education tailored to needs of different staff groups
• Represent the IPC Team on committees and projects
• Produce IPC reports as required
• Travel to different sites as necessary
• Provide counselling and information on IPC to patients, carers and staff
• Develop and review IPC policies and guidelines
• Participate in QI projects to improve IPC practice
• Support junior team members and conduct appraisals
• Maintain accurate records and ensure logs are up to date
• Work autonomously with supervision available
