Barclay Simpson is exclusively supporting a leading investment management firm with the search for a Portfolio Risk Manager to join their front office-aligned risk team. This is a genuinely rare opportunity to be part of a high-performing, commercially focused group that works in close partnership with portfolio managers.

This is not a traditional second-line oversight role — the team is embedded in the investment function and plays a key role in shaping risk strategy and portfolio construction decisions. The environment is professional yet down-to-earth, with strong senior management backing, long-standing internal relationships, and a pragmatic approach to hybrid working.

About the Role

Sitting alongside the investment teams, you’ll focus on monitoring and analysing portfolio risk across a broad range of strategies, with a particular emphasis on Emerging Markets. You’ll help drive risk conversations, identify key exposures, and provide meaningful analysis to support the investment process.

Key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring macro and market risk exposures across EM portfolios
• Managing risk limits and investigating breaches or anomalies
• Leading daily risk reviews and highlighting top portfolio risks
• Engaging with portfolio managers to challenge and advise on risk positioning
• Producing scenario and stress testing, regression analysis, and portfolio optimisation
• Presenting risk themes and insights to investment leadership

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience in a portfolio or investment risk role, ideally within an asset manager or hedge fund
• Essential: A solid understanding of Emerging Markets and associated risk dynamics
• Comfortable operating in a collaborative, front office environment with senior exposure
