Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking an Investigating Officer in Staines-upon-Thames for a temporary role. You will manage a varied caseload, interview suspects, gather and review evidence, take detailed witness statements and prepare case files.

You will work with solicitors, the Crown Prosecution Service and partner agencies, using frameworks like NDM/THRIVE/IDMM to make accountable decisions. Driving licence required; day/evening shifts incl. weekends.

Investigating Officer needed in Staines-upon-Thames

This is a temporary role and the rate is £15.16ph PAYE

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of investigations, taking ownership of each matter from initial enquiry through to court proceedings. They will confidently interview suspects, gather and review evidence, take detailed witness statements, and prepare comprehensive case files. They will maintain regular contact with victims and witnesses, building trust and ensuring they remain informed throughout the investigative process.

They will work collaboratively with solicitors, the Crown Prosecution Service and partner agencies, using recognised decision-making frameworks such as NDM, THRIVE and IDMM to make well-reasoned, accountable investigative decisions. This individual will demonstrate resilience, emotional maturity and the ability to persevere in challenging situations. They will also be flexible in working a mix of day and evening shifts, including weekends and bank holidays. To succeed, they will bring PIP1 investigative experience, a strong background in evidence gathering and statement taking, experience within an investigative environment, and a full manual driving licence.
