Job summary

Surrey Police is seeking temporary PIP1 Investigators to support investigation teams across the force. You will manage a caseload, interview suspects, take statements, gather and review evidence, and prepare case files for court.

You will work with victims, witnesses, solicitors, the CPS and partner agencies to keep them informed throughout investigations. Apply established policing frameworks, including the National Decision Model (NDM), THRIVE and IDMM, to make sound and accountable

Qualifications

• Experience in PIP1 investigative work within policing.
• Experience taking statements, gathering evidence and completing investigative tasks.
• Full manual driving licence.
• Must complete the mandatory 8-week Investigating Officer course with no annual leave during the course.
• Flexibility to work day and evening shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload and work with officers and staff to investigate offences.
• Interview suspects, take witness statements and review evidence to build case files for court.
• Prepare case files and support cases through the trial process with colleagues and partners.
• Work closely with victims, witnesses, solicitors, CPS and partner agencies to keep victims informed.

Investigating Officer - Surrey Police

£15.16 per hour

Locations: Reigate, Guildford & Staines

Surrey Police is seeking temporary PIP1 Investigators to support investigation teams across the force.

As an Investigating Officer, you will manage your own caseload, working alongside police officers and staff to investigate a range of offences. Responsibilities will include interviewing suspects, taking witness statements, gathering and reviewing evidence, preparing case files for court and supporting cases through the trial process.

You will work closely with victims, witnesses, solicitors, the Crown Prosecution Service and partner agencies, ensuring victims are kept informed throughout investigations. You will also apply established policing frameworks, including the National Decision Model (NDM), THRIVE and Investigative Decision Making Model (IDMM), to make sound and accountable investigative decisions.

This is a challenging but rewarding role, requiring resilience, sound judgement and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Essential Requirements:

• Previous PIP1 investigative experience within a policing environment.
• Experience taking statements, gathering evidence and completing investigative tasks.
• Full manual driving licence.
• Availability to complete the mandatory 8-week Investigating Officer course in full, with no annual leave permitted during the course.
• Flexibility to work day and evening shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Successful applicants will be required to attend the full training course before commencing the role.
