Job summary

Reed is seeking an Inventory Controller in Northamptonshire to ensure timely availability of parts, tools and materials for production and maintenance teams. The role offers full training, a Monday–Friday schedule and immediate start in a professional manufacturing environment.

Successful candidates will have stores/stock control experience, strong organisational skills and familiarity with stock management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Attend daily and weekly meetings to understand priorities.
  • Manage onsite stores and inventory processes.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure critical items are available.
  • Prepare quotations and stock requests as needed.
  • Deliver excellent internal customer service.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement and facilities teams.
  • Ensure stores processes are followed consistently.
  • Support stock checks, cycle counts and inventory accuracy.
  • Plan stock levels according to site requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Job description

Location: NorthamptonshirePay Rate: GBP12.71 per hourHours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm (37.5 hours per week)Start Date: Immediate Start AvailableContract: Temporary

We are currently recruiting for a Inventory Controller to join a well-established manufacturing site in Northamptonshire. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in stores, stock control, inventory management, warehouse operations, or manufacturing environments.

As a key member of the onsite team, you will play an important role in ensuring production and engineering departments have the parts, tools, consumables, PPE, and materials required to keep operations running smoothly. Full training will be provided, making this a fantastic opportunity for candidates looking to further develop their skills within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend daily and weekly production and engineering meetings to understand operational priorities.
  • Manage and maintain onsite stores and inventory processes.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure critical items are always available.
  • Prepare and follow up on quotations and stock requests where required.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to internal stakeholders and site personnel.
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and facilities teams.
  • Ensure stores management processes are followed consistently.
  • Support stock checks, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy.
  • Plan and manage stock levels in line with site requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, stock optimisation, and process improvements.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a Stores Operative, Stores Person, Stock Controller, Inventory Controller, Stock Checker, Warehouse Operative, or similar role.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, MRO, PPE, warehouse, or trade counter environment is advantageous.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Basic IT skills and experience using stock management systems would be beneficial.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
