Job summary

Aspire People are seeking an enthusiastic Maths & English Intervention Teaching Assistant to support pupils in primary schools across Manchester and surrounding areas. You will deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions, reinforce core maths and English skills, and help learners access the wider curriculum in a supportive setting.

Ideal candidates have recent UK school experience, are patient in explaining concepts, and comfortable working with pupils individually or in small groups.

Qualifications

• Recent UK-based school experience within the last two years.
• Experience supporting primary pupils in Maths or English or general classroom learning.
• Secure understanding of primary curriculum fundamentals.
• Ability to explain concepts patiently and in different ways.
• Confident working with pupils individually and in groups.
• Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
• Committed to helping pupils reach their potential.

Responsibilities

• Delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions in Maths and English.
• Support pupils with number recognition, calculation, place value and problem-solving.
• Reinforce reading, spelling, grammar and writing skills.
• Help pupils understand instructions and work step by step.
• Adapt resources to suit different abilities and learning needs.
• Support pupils who have fallen behind expected learning levels.
• Encourage independent thinking and positive learning habits.
• Monitor progress and share observations with teaching staff.
• Support classroom learning when intervention sessions are not taking place.
• Create an encouraging environment where pupils feel comfortable asking for help.

Aspire People are seeking an enthusiastic and capable Maths and English Intervention Teaching Assistant to support pupils who need additional help with their primary school learning.

This role would suit someone who enjoys breaking down difficult concepts, helping children overcome gaps in their understanding and seeing pupils grow in confidence as they make progress.

Working alongside class teachers, you will support targeted learning activities in Maths and English, helping pupils consolidate key skills and access the wider curriculum.

The Role:

• Delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions in Maths and English
