Job summary

Peak School, part of Esteem Multi-Academy Trust, is a warm, ambitious special school with 91 pupils. We are seeking an Intervention Assistant to provide individualised support, helping pupils learn, communicate, and develop independence.

You will assist with literacy, numeracy and the wider curriculum, support pupils to engage in learning, manage their social, emotional, sensory and physical needs, and may include personal care and supporting visits and activities across school.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEND or equivalent desirable.
• Commitment to pupils and willingness to learn and develop skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and stay calm in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised support for pupils alongside teachers.

Job Title: Intervention Assistant

Location: Peak School, Buxton Road, Chinley, High Peak, Derbyshire, SK23 6ES

Grade/Scale: Support Pay Scale: Grade 7 (Points 8 - 11), Actual Salary £21,510 - £23,078 per annum

Contract: 32.5 hours per week, 41 weeks per year (Term Time Only + 2)

The Role

As an Intervention Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and other staff to provide individualised support for our pupils.

You will play an important role in teaching and learning, supporting pupils to develop their literacy, numeracy, communication and wider curriculum skills. You will help pupils engage in appropriately adapted learning, practise and consolidate new skills, and make progress towards their individual learning outcomes.
Alongside this, you will support pupils to develop their independence and manage their social, emotional, sensory and physical needs. The role can also include personal care and supporting pupils during community learning, educational visits and activities across school.
Most importantly, you will build positive relationships with our pupils, encourage them to try, recognise their progress and celebrate their achievements.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is kind, patient, positive and reliable, who enjoys helping young people to learn and has high expectations for what our pupils can achieve.
You will enjoy working as part of a team, be able to remain calm when situations are challenging and be willing to learn and develop your skills.
Previous SEND experience is desirable, but not essential. What matters most is your commitment to our pupils, your values and your willingness to learn.
