Job description

Interstitial Lung Disease Clinical Nurse Specialist

Join to apply for the Interstitial Lung Disease Clinical Nurse Specialist role at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity in the ILD service for a Clinical Nurse Specialist, initially for a 6-month fixed term, with secondments considered.

Main Responsibilities of the Role Include:

  1. Providing and maintaining high standards of skilled nursing care for patients with Interstitial Lung Disease, following the agreed models of care.
  2. Assessing patients on the ward for further management and discussion at the ILD MDT, offering advice and support to nursing and medical staff.
  3. Supporting outpatient ILD clinics, MDT meetings, and the Patient Support Group.
  4. Advising on treatment changes, including oxygen therapy, and educating patients and carers on self-management.
  5. Ensuring appropriate patients are considered for follow-up, pulmonary rehabilitation, smoking cessation, long-term oxygen therapy, and palliative care.
  6. Participating in the development and delivery of educational materials for patients, carers, and health professionals.
  7. Managing time effectively to handle patient caseloads.
  8. Providing nurse-led telephone consultations for regional ILD patients.
