Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity in the ILD service for a Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is a 6-month fixed-term position. Secondments will be considered.

We are seeking an experienced registered nurse eager to join our specialized team and advance their career.

Main responsibilities include:

  1. Providing and maintaining high standards of skilled nursing care for patients with Interstitial Lung Disease, following established care models.
  2. Assessing patients with ILD on the ward for management and discussion at the ILD Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). Offering advice and support to nursing and medical staff regarding management and care.
  3. Advising on treatment modifications, including oxygen therapy, and educating patients and carers on self-management.
  4. Ensuring appropriate patients are considered for follow-up, pulmonary rehabilitation, smoking cessation, long-term oxygen therapy, and palliative care.
  5. Participating in developing educational materials for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, and assisting in their delivery and evaluation.
  6. Managing time effectively to handle patient caseloads.
  7. Providing a nurse-led telephone consultation service for regional ILD patients.
