Job summary

HSBC is seeking an Internal Auditor Analytics to partner with audit teams, turning objectives into automated analytics and tests. The role emphasises data-driven assurance, cross-functional collaboration, and development of innovative analytical solutions across regional data sources.

The successful candidate will combine BI/analytics experience with programming skills (Python, R, SQL) and knowledge of data governance, building risk-based tests that enhance audit coverage and precision.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in information systems, accounting, maths, or a related field.
• Hands-on BI/analytics and visualization tools experience (Qlik Sense, Tableau).
• Experience building ETL/data preparation and working with structured data end-to-end.
• Strong programming/querying skills for analytics (Python, R, SQL).
• Experience applying Generative AI techniques in analytics.
• Experience designing and implementing advanced analytics/data science solutions.
• Audit experience can be beneficial but is not required.

• Identify risk drivers across Lines of Business/Functions/regions to help Audit monitor risk and optimise resourcing and scoping decisions.
• Design and deliver innovative tests of control using digitised artefacts (data) and modern analytical techniques.
• Build and run continuous controls testing to improve coverage, frequency, and assurance quality.
• Develop understanding of data sources, structures, and metadata across areas to enable audit use.
• Deliver analytics solutions through an agile, iterative approach—adapting quickly to changing audit needs and maximizing value.
• Ensure solutions are delivered safely and sustainably, managing operational risk and compliance.

The Internal Auditor Analytics role in Global Audit Analytics (GAA) is a great fit for someone who wants real impact at pace: you’ll partner closely with audit teams to turn audit objectives into automated, data-driven testing and statistical insight, improving both the quality and efficiency of audit delivery. In this role you’ll:

• Partner with audit teams to translate audit objectives into practical, technology-enabled analytics and automated testing
• Identify and capture key risk drivers across Lines of Business/Functions/regions to help Audit monitor risk and make smarter, timelier resourcing and scoping decisions
• Design and deliver innovative tests of control using digitised artefacts (data) and modern analytical techniques
• Build and run continuous controls testing using advanced analytics to improve coverage, frequency, and assurance quality
• Develop strong understanding of relevant data sources, structures, and metadata across selected areas and regions to enable effective audit use
• Deliver analytics solutions through an agile, iterative approach—adapting quickly to changing audit needs and maximising value
• Ensure solutions are delivered safely and sustainably, managing operational risk (e.g., cross-border data transfer) and complying with the Global Internal Audit Instruction Manual and relevant policy/regulation.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

• A degree (or equivalent practical experience) ininformation systems, accounting, maths, quantitative/numerical sciences, or a related field
• Hands-on experience withBI/analytics and visualisation tools(e.g.,Qlik Sense, Tableau)
• Experience building or supportingETL/data preparationand working with structured datasets end-to-end
• Strong working capability inprogramming/queryingfor analytics (e.g.,Python, R, SQL)
• Practical experience applyingGenerative AI tools/techniquesin an analytics or assurance context
• Experience designing and implementingadvanced analytics/data science solutions
• Proven strengths inanalysis and decision-making
• Audit experience (internal/external) is beneficial but not required.
