You will help build and manage software that solves engineering problems at scale, seeking clarity in complex technical issues and demonstrating innovative ways to automate. Your decisions will be data-driven, enabling early value delivery to address Xero customers' problems more effectively.

What you'll do

• Create software - Focus on customer problems and technical excellence, producing robust, high-quality, and scalable software. Automate manual processes relentlessly.
• Contribute to technical solution designs with a quality-first approach and participate in code reviews.
• Test software - Design and automate testing to ensure product quality across various risk areas and acceptance criteria. Collaborate with the team to uphold quality responsibilities.
• Resolve issues - Triage and solve development and production problems, quickly identifying root causes. Communicate impacts to stakeholders and participate in incident responses.
• Maintain engineering standards & frameworks - Stay updated on Xero’s current and emerging standards and develop software that complies with these standards.
• Continuous improvement - Keep abreast of current and emerging development technologies and methodologies.
• Develop expertise in programming languages and technologies relevant to your role.
• Deliver infrastructure in a production environment - Monitor and maintain delivery processes, ensuring software operates as expected and proactively preventing customer-facing problems.
• Practice modern software and delivery practices - Engage in agile development, facilitate ceremonies occasionally, and work to improve team processes.

• Experience responding to production incidents.
