Job summary

Aldwych Consulting in Leicester is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Electrical Engineer to join its growing MEP design team. You will deliver electrical building-services design across a varied portfolio of projects and work alongside mechanical engineers, sustainability consultants and directors to ensure coordinated design delivery.

The role offers ownership of projects, mentoring junior engineers, and opportunities to develop technical and project-management skills.

Qualifications

• Strong technical understanding of electrical building-services design.
• Experience with electrical distribution, lighting, small power, cable sizing and protection systems.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations, CIBSE guidelines, British Standards and IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• Good communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech and Dialux/Relux.
• Proactive workload management and responsibility for project delivery.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical engineering design across a variety of building-services projects.
• Produce detailed electrical designs, load assessments, lighting layouts, cable sizing, protection studies and electrical infrastructure.
• Manage and coordinate electrical design through concept to construction.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and wider MEP disciplines for coordinated delivery.
• Attend design team meetings and liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Manage project workloads, programmes and deadlines to ensure delivery.
• Support project financial management and resource planning as appropriate.
• Conduct technical reviews and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Support business development and maintain client relationships.
• Work with sustainability engineers on energy and carbon-related design work.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.

Intermediate / Senior Electrical Engineer

The Opportunity

I'm currently working with an established, independently owned MEP Design Consultancy based in Leicester, who are looking to appoint an Intermediate or Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing team.

Following a significant increase in new project work, the business is looking to strengthen its electrical engineering team and bring in an additional engineer to support the delivery of its expanding project portfolio.

The consultancy provides mechanical, electrical and environmental engineering design services across a varied range of sectors, with a strong focus on delivering innovative, sustainable and commercially effective engineering solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit consultancy where you will have exposure to a variety of projects, work alongside experienced engineers and have the opportunity to develop your technical and project management skills.

The Role

You will be involved in the delivery of electrical building-services design across a range of projects, working closely with Mechanical Engineers, Sustainability Consultants, Directors and external project stakeholders.

Depending on your experience, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, lead electrical design delivery and support the development of more junior engineers.

Responsibilities will include:

• Delivering electrical engineering design across a variety of building-services projects.

• Working alongside sustainability engineers, providing technical input and supporting energy and carbon-related design work.
• Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, where appropriate.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Building Regulations, British Standards and industry guidelines.

About You

The business is open to speaking with both Intermediate and Senior Electrical Engineers, with responsibilities and salary reflecting your level of experience.

Ideally, you will have:

• A strong technical understanding of electrical building-services design.
• Experience with electrical distribution, lighting, small power, cable sizing and protection systems.
