Job summary

Civic is seeking an Intermediate/Design Engineer to deliver electrical design for building services across UK projects, from residential to commercial sectors. You’ll work with engineers, architects and contractors to create integrated, sustainable designs that meet industry standards and client needs.

You will be involved in design input, analysis, calculations, cost estimates, and reporting, while developing your electrical capability within a collaborative, growing practice that emphasises

Qualifications

  • Provide engineering discipline design, analysis, calculation and drawing input.
  • Undertaking engineering design and analysis while supervised by others, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Identify problems and opportunities, assessing and resolving problems using qualitative and quantitative measures, while being supervised by others.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, and risk assessments for proposed designs.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, structural engineers, and contractors, to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly.
  • Input into the production of high quality written reports on a range of projects.
  • Preparation, presentation and self-checking of technical data, drawings and tenders, under the supervision of others and taking part in reviews by others of your work.
  • Use of industry standard analysis and calculation software.
  • Being part of internal reviews.
  • Self-checking and checking others’ work.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations, such as IEEE, NEC, IEC, and local building codes.
  • Compliance with the duties of Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015
  • Compliance with the practice QMS, including self-checking.
  • Communicate clearly and openly internally and externally with peers and clients.
  • Manage your own project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.

Requirements

As an Intermediate/Design Engineer, you will take an active role in the delivery of a variety of building projects across the UK, across a range of sectors including residential, education, commercial development, leisure, net zero/low carbon and regeneration. You will have the opportunity to work alongside industry experts with a variety of engineering and consultancy skills to provide integrated coordinated designs with high profile private and public-sector clients and collaborators within an award winning practice.

Day-to-day task and expectations

This is an opportunity to join a growing Building Services MEP team and contribute to the delivery of well-coordinated, sustainable and technically robust projects. We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and keen to develop your electrical engineering capability within a collaborative engineering environment.

Is this you?

You’ll be an experienced electrical engineer with a good understanding of Building Services MEP and a keen eye for technical detail. Collaborative, proactive and organised, you’ll enjoy working closely with engineers and wider design teams to produce accurate, coordinated and well-presented designs and models.
