A leading consultancy in civil engineering seeks a temporary works designer to support major projects valued between £10m and £100m. This role offers mentorship towards chartered status and opportunities for career progression. Candidates should have a 2:1 degree in civil or structural engineering and relevant design experience.
This new opportunity for a temporary works designer is with a practice that handles heavy civil engineering and building projects. You will have the support and guidance of an associate and be provided with mentorship to achieve chartered or incorporated status through their ICE approved training scheme. The role provides the conditions for swift career progression, there is a strong and growing order book, and plans in place for succession and expansion. Your focus will be on major projects typically valued between £10m – 100m. Schemes will encompass commercial, residential, pharmaceutical, industrial, process, bridges and ports & harbours. There will also be the added opportunity to work on permanent works with their structural engineering division.
Your Role: Your work will encompass steel and RC designs for façade retention, basement excavations, propping, shoring, plus a myriad of temporary works related design solutions. As you progress you will work more closely with clients and provide pre-construction advice and liaise with their site based project managers and directors. You will work alongside leading contractors and gain invaluable technical and practical skills, and a deep understanding of buildability issues.

Their business growth is supported by structured staff training and development, including support to achieve chartered status with the ICE and IStructE.
Profile Required: A 2:1 degree, or above, in civil or structural engineering and upwards of three years’ design experience with a consultancy or contractor. You should be motivated to become a chartered or incorporated engineer, graduate membership of the ICE or IStructE is advantageous.
