Job description

Work pattern: Remote, with a requirement to be in the London office at least 4 times a month.

Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday).

We are seeking an experienced Interim Statutory Accountant to join an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving global health outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statutory accounting, financial reporting, and compliance within the non-profit sector. This is a temporary position offering flexibility and the chance to be part of a dynamic team working towards impactful health initiatives. General responsibilities:

  1. Lead the completion of year-end accounts for Malaria Consortium in accordance with SORP.
  2. Manage specific schedules and notes to statutory accounts related to the year-end audit, liaising with regional and country Finance Support Managers to ensure complete audit documentation and compliance with country and project-specific requirements (e.g., operating leases, support costs).
  3. Coordinate with country offices to support project and donor audits.
  4. Consolidate statutory accounts for review.
  5. Support the Head of Finance in reviewing and improving existing financial controls.
  6. Verify month-end reconciliations for accuracy and maintain a tracking document to identify issues and gaps.
  7. Assist in implementing audit recommendations and report follow-up to internal audit.
  8. Reconcile management accounts with statutory accounts.
  9. Handle ad hoc queries related to recharges, project income, and expenditure.
  10. Assist in reconciling budgets and specific financial areas.
  11. Support ad hoc reporting on KPIs for year-end reporting.
  12. Address internal auditor queries regarding global accounts.
  13. Assist in developing new financial policies as needed.
  14. Support the implementation of the new finance system, including reconciliation of P&L and balance sheet accounts.
