Job summary

Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult in Stevenage seeks an Interim Quality Control Lead to steer QC activities across MICs and GMP labs, aligning with regulatory expectations and Collaborator needs. Reporting to Head of QC, you will drive continuous improvement, manage a growing QC team, and ensure audit-ready processes while maintaining biosafety and GMP compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in interacting with clients and Collaborators is essential.
• Experience managing R&D projects in academic or industry environments.
• GMP environment and biosafety knowledge.
• Experience with environmental monitoring devices and assays.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee QC services including environmental monitoring, microbiology, raw material testing, in-process testing, and final product testing.
• Establish, review, and monitor KPIs and trend analysis to measure QC performance.
• Ensure QC operations comply with regulatory, quality, HS&E policies and protect people and environment.
• Drive continuous improvement and maintain audit-ready QC environment.
• Lead a growing QC team and manage scheduling, resources, and training.
• Collaborate with Collaborators and CGT Catapult teams to optimise resources and project delivery.
• Provide subject matter expertise for biosafety testing and QC methods (e.g., PCR, endotoxin, sterility).
• Review biosafety assays and environmental monitoring results; support CAPAs and change controls.
