Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting an Interim Operations Manager for a leading industrial manufacturer in Coventry. The role focuses on driving performance, leading manufacturing teams and delivering improvements across safety, quality and efficiency.

You will oversee production processes, manage budgets, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Finance to meet site KPIs. Immediate start and weekly pay are on offer for a senior leader with Lean/Six Sigma experience.

Qualifications

• Senior manufacturing or operations leadership experience.
• Experience in industrial manufacturing sectors including aerospace/defence.
• Strong understanding of production management and process improvement.
• Proven productivity, efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Experience leading large teams via supervisors and team leaders.
• Knowledge of health & safety, quality management systems and regulatory compliance.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Operational Excellence implementations.
• Budget/cost centre management and commercial awareness.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Engineering degree or equivalent advantageous.
• Lean Six Sigma, IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Leading manufacturing and operational teams to achieve business and site KPIs.
• Driving continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives across the facility.
• Ensuring compliance with all health & safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Managing labour utilisation, productivity improvements, waste reduction and operational costs.
• Developing, coaching and mentoring operational leaders to build capability and succession within the team.
• Working closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, HR and Finance teams to achieve site objectives.
• Supporting operational transformation, capital investment projects and business improvement programmes.
• Monitoring operational budgets and implementing corrective actions where required.
• Driving efficiency, throughput, OTIF performance and customer service improvements.
• Supporting customer demands within highly regulated industrial, defence and aerospace environments.
• Creating a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement across the operation.

Profile

• Significant experience within a senior manufacturing or operations leadership role.
• Previous experience in industrial manufacturing, aerospace, defence, engineering or precision manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production management and operational performance improvement.
• Demonstrated success in delivering productivity, efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Experience managing large operational teams through supervisors and team leaders.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety, quality management systems and regulatory compliance.
• Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Operational Excellence methodologies.
• Strong commercial awareness with budget and cost centre management experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.
• Lean Six Sigma, IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications would be beneficial.

Job Offer

• Daily rate of £500 to £600, dependent on the level of experience.
• Temporary contract with a focus on key operational improvements.
