Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking an Operations Manager to lead performance across workshop manufacturing, field engineering, warehouse and logistics at our Cinderford site.

You will manage senior teams, drive Lean improvements, coordinate resources, and ensure delivery targets while maintaining health and safety standards.

This is a permanent on-site role offering development opportunities and a path to operational excellence within a growing engineering business.

Qualifications

  • Senior operational leadership experience in engineering or manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of improving performance and processes.
  • Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP and related systems.
  • Strong people management across managers and supervisors.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day operations across workshop, manufacturing, field engineering, warehouse and logistics.
  • Lead and develop managers and supervisors with clear accountability and standards.
  • Coordinate labour, equipment, materials and resources to meet customer requirements and delivery targets.
  • Drive improvements in productivity, planning, quality and delivery performance.
  • Oversee field engineering scheduling, utilisation, and reporting.
  • Ensure materials and actions are managed to completion.
  • Identify bottlenecks and waste; eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Apply Lean and CI principles to support growth.
  • Manage stock control, logistics and material availability in warehouse.
  • Improve stock accuracy and ERP/WMS usage.
  • Coach and develop teams.
  • Support recruitment and workforce planning.
  • Monitor KPIs: productivity, labour utilisation, delivery, stock.
  • Work with senior leadership to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Promote strong health and safety culture across all operations.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and standards.
  • Support digitalisation and system improvements where benefits exist.

Contract Type: Permanent We are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to join a growing engineering business based in Cinderford.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead operational performance across manufacturing, field engineering, warehouse and logistics functions while helping to drive the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities - Operations Manager
  • Take ownership of day to day operations across workshop manufacturing field engineering warehouse logistics and operational administration
  • Lead and develop managers and supervisors through clear accountability performance expectations and operational standards
  • Coordinate labour equipment materials and resources to meet customer requirements and delivery targets
  • Improve communication and collaboration between operational departments
  • Drive operational improvements across productivity planning quality and delivery performance
  • Oversee field engineering activities including scheduling utilisation performance and reporting
  • Ensure site work materials and outstanding actions are effectively managed through to completion
  • Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks waste rework and inefficiencies
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles to support business growth
  • Manage warehouse stock control logistics and material availability processes
  • Improve stock accuracy and drive effective use of ERP MRP and warehouse management systems
  • Coach and develop managers supervisors and operational teams
  • Support recruitment workforce planning succession planning and employee development
  • Monitor operational KPIs including productivity labour utilisation delivery quality and stock performance
  • Work closely with senior leadership to improve operational efficiency profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture across all operational areas
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures quality standards and relevant legislation
  • Support digitalisation automation and system improvements where operational benefits can be achieved
Qualifications & Requirements - Operations Manager
  • Previous senior operational leadership experience within engineering manufacturing industrial services or a similar environment
  • Strong people management experience with responsibility for managers and supervisors
  • Proven track record of improving operational performance and business processes
  • Practical understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Experience using ERP MRP or similar operational systems
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing productivity labour utilisation and operational costs
  • Good understanding of health and safety within engineering or manufacturing environments
  • Experience leading change and improving team performance within a growing business
  • Strong communication leadership and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple operational functions and priorities simultaneously
