Job Description:

A leading energy company is seeking an experienced professional to join its growing Finance function, with a specific focus on Market Risk and Middle Office oversight. This role supports a dynamic and globally active trading operation.

The Opportunity

This is a broad and high-impact role, responsible for shaping and embedding the group's approach to market risk management and lifecycle controls. Working with the Market Risk Lead, you will help form the structure of the function.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as an independent control function, ensuring trading activity remains within risk appetite and internal policies.
• Deliver accurate and timely reporting of P&L, mark-to-market valuations, and relevant valuation adjustments.
• Design, implement, and enhance risk frameworks and lifecycle control processes.
• Develop and monitor risk mitigation strategies including VaR limits, stop-losses, and capital-at-risk thresholds.
• Collaborate with Finance, Trading, and Risk stakeholders to identify process improvements and drive reporting and analytics innovation.

Your Background

• Experience in market risk, middle office, or product control within energy or commodities sectors.
• Understanding of derivatives, market dynamics, and risk management tools (VaR, stress testing, Monte Carlo).
• Advanced Excel skills; SQL/database knowledge is a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, able to convey complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
• Self-starter with a focus on process improvement and control design.
