A leading energy company is seeking an experienced professional to join its growing Finance function, with a specific focus on Market Risk and Middle Office oversight. This role supports a dynamic and globally active trading operation and involves trading oversight, risk analytics, and control framework development.

The Opportunity

This is a broad and high-impact role, responsible for shaping and embedding the group's approach to market risk management and lifecycle controls. Working with the Market Risk Lead, you will help form the structure of the function.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as an independent control function, ensuring trading activity remains within risk appetite and internal policies.
• Deliver accurate and timely reporting of P&L, mark-to-market valuations, and valuation adjustments.
• Design, implement, and enhance risk frameworks and control processes.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies including VaR limits, stop-losses, and capital-at-risk thresholds.
• Collaborate with Finance, Trading, and Risk teams to improve processes and reporting.

Your Background

• Experience in market risk, middle office, or product control within energy or commodities sectors.
• Understanding of derivatives, market dynamics, and risk tools (VaR, stress testing, Monte Carlo).
• Excel skills; SQL/database knowledge is a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Proactive with a focus on process improvement and controls.
