Job summary

Cognisant is seeking an Interim Management Accountant to join a well-established residential property and construction business. This 18-month assignment offers a hands-on finance professional the chance to deliver timely management information and enhance financial control.

You will report to the senior finance team and work closely with operational and commercial colleagues to improve visibility and profitability across developments, while supporting year-end activities and audits as required.

Qualifications

• Qualified by experience acceptable where applicable.
• Strong management accounting and month-end reporting experience.
• Excellent Excel and financial analysis skills; COINS experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
• Manage month-end processes, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Produce budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Monitor project costs, WIP and profitability across developments.
• Support cash flow forecasting and financial planning.
• Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to improve financial visibility.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls and reporting.
• Support year-end activities and liaise with auditors.

We are seeking an Interim Management Accountant to join a well-established and highly regarded residential property and construction sector.

The business offers an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional to make a meaningful contribution during an 18-month interim assignment.

The Role

Reporting to the senior finance team, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely management information, supporting financial control and providing valuable commercial insight to the wider business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
• Managing month-end processes, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Producing budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Monitoring project costs, work in progress and profitability across developments.
• Supporting cash flow forecasting and financial planning.
• Working closely with operational and commercial teams to improve financial visibility and performance.
• Identifying opportunities to strengthen financial controls, processes and reporting.
• Supporting year-end activities and liaising with external auditors where required.
• Ad hoc duties as required to further support the business.

About You

We are looking for a proactive accountant who can quickly establish themselves within a busy finance function.

You will ideally have:

• A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), or be qualified by experience.
• Strong management accounting and month-end reporting experience.
• Excellent Excel and financial analysis skills. COINS experience advantageous.
• Experience within construction, housebuilding, property or a project-based environment would be advantageous.
• A hands-on approach, with the confidence to work independently and meet deadlines.
