Job summary

Melbreck Technical Recruitment is seeking an Interim HR Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Ilfracombe, North Devon. The role blends hands-on HR delivery with strategic people initiatives in a FTSE 250–style engineering environment.

You will partner with site leaders to deliver practical HR guidance, manage employee relations and drive talent, apprenticeship, and development programs across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or CIPD Level 5 with HR management or advisory experience.
• Strong understanding of UK employment law and employee-relations practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing abilities with stakeholders at all levels.
• Customer-focused approach and passion for supporting people and business.

Responsibilities

• Partner with line managers on all aspects of people management and provide practical HR guidance.
• Manage a broad range of employee relations cases (discipline, grievance, absence, capability, performance).
• Support engagement, performance management, talent acquisition and development initiatives.
• Oversee permanent recruitment across the site and lead the site apprenticeship programme from attraction to progression.
• Build relationships with local college, mentors and stakeholders to improve apprenticeship outcomes.
• Oversee compensation, benefits and performance review processes.
• Ensure HR activity complies with UK employment law and company policies.
