Job summary

Irwin and Colton Limited is actively seeking an Interim Health and Safety Manager to oversee multiple live and upcoming civil projects across the UK. This predominantly site-based role requires travel and flexibility to support projects nationwide.

You will conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments and safety audits, support incident investigations, and liaise with subcontractors to promote safe working practices across diverse environments.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Valid CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one).
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.

Location: Nationwide (site-based with travel across UK)

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join an established civil contractor, overseeing multiple live and upcoming projects across the UK. This is a predominantly site-based role, with a flexible working pattern focused on supporting projects around Bridgewater, Newcastle, Leeds, and other locations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring safety compliance and fostering a strong health and safety culture across different environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing expert health and safety support across multiple construction sites, ensuring compliance with UK legislation.
• Conducting regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
• Supporting incident investigations and implementing corrective measures.
• Liaising with site teams, including subcontractors and suppliers, to promote safe working practices.

The ideal candidate will have

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Valid CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one).
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
• Strong background with projects covering groundworks, reinforced concrete frames, excavations, utilities, demolition and wider civil engineering works
